In the U.S. hunger can feel distant. As if it were a crisis experienced by people continents away. But 1 in 8 Americans are going hungry. In isolated places like Pine Ridge, where over 90% of Oglala Lakota live below or at the poverty line, hunger and poverty are systemic. Conscious Alliance uses a three-tiered approach to help communities in crisis, like Pine Ridge:

• Emergency food relief to communities across the United States;
• Nutrition, exercise, and gardening education for youth in economically isolated Native American Reservations; and
• Youth empowerment programs

On Pine Ridge Reservation, we've been able to feed thousands of families through both special programming as well as a large food bank we helped open and operate.
