Since the start of the 2011 summer season Conscious Alliance has been on the go, collecting donations across the country from thousands of generous music lovers. Our first stop this summer was at the Hangout Music Festival, down on the beautiful beach of Gulf Shores, Alabama. “Hangout was a great way to start the summer,” says Jenny Mueller, the Administrative Director of Conscious Alliance. “It was a new festival for us and the attendees were really supportive.” Throughout the weekend festival-goers helped us collect over one ton of food to benefit the local Bay Area Food Bank, which provides emergency food for the Gulf Coast region. Sooner than we would have liked Hangout Festival came to an end, and Conscious Alliance’s journey to help those in need continued.
Our next stop was at Summer Camp Festival in Illinois.  Despite the muddy conditions our food drive proved to be very successful. Throughout the entire event we collected over 2,500 meals to help others in need. “We did very well at Summer Camp and all the food donations went to the local Peoria Area Food Bank,” said Justin Levy, Operations Director of Conscious Alliance.
After a rewarding weekend in Illinois, Conscious Alliance hit the road again, stopping this time in Arkansas to run our annual food drive at Wakarusa Music Festival. “Our Wakarusa food drive seemed to really help us spread awareness about our organization and our overall mission. Many attendees were very excited about supporting Conscious Alliance,” said April Morris, one of Conscious Alliance’s interns. Throughout our time in Arkansas, attendees helped us raise over one ton of food. All this food was donated to the nearby food bank in Fort Smith.
“These three festivals were all in very different parts of the country. Due to the support of each festival, we were able to execute very successful food drives in all three regions,” said Levy. Conscious Alliance experienced a great start to summer and is excited to hit the road again, with the next stop being Re:Generation at Horning’s Hideout in Oregon. Thank you for fueling our organization with your constant support!
