_x000D_ _x000D_ Dear Friends,_x000D_ _x000D_ I write today grateful for the progress we have made and humbled by the road that is ahead of us. I am proud of our bold actions to nourish people in need and empower youth. Yet, our work isn’t done; 1 in 8 individuals in the US face hunger, including 13.1 million children! If we don’t change this course of action, today’s children will be the first generation in the US to live sicker and die younger than their parents. Uncertain times make it even more important that we stay focused on helping everyone gain access to reliable nutrition and empowering the next generation to meet the rising needs in our communities._x000D_ _x000D_ The challenges we face do not deter our efforts; we have had some amazing successes. Our impact is significant in its own right and contributes to the larger movement that is currently happening. Right now, multiple generations are coming together to take-action. The dream of a healthier tomorrow that drives a 16-year old to make his first donation to our ‘Art That Feeds’ Food Drive is the same dream that drives our 86-year old friend to volunteer with us on a weekly basis. We are united by our passions to see positive social change._x000D_ _x000D_ I thank our staff, board members, volunteers, donors, and partners for their service, generosity, and belief in our mission. Our strategy of engaging the live music scene, renowned poster artists, the natural food industry, and other nonprofits creates a strong and dynamic collaborative. In 2016, Conscious Alliance contributed $1,210,831.95 directly to the communities we serve, while maintaining our combined fundraising and administrative expenses below 24%.   • 212,544 meals were collected and distributed to 28 different food banks nationwide from Florida to Oregon, Illinois to Colorado and a school on Pine Ridge.

  • Through our Food Sovereignty and Youth Empowerment Center on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, we provided groceries for an average of 50 families in need every week, empowered 7 families to become successful home gardeners, and managed 4 weekend drum workshops that brought Lakota youth closer to their heritage.

  • We partnered with 9 natural food companies who made it possible for all 250 students at Loneman School on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to have access to reliable nutrition every weekend.
