Winter Pine Ridge Visit
We kicked off 2017 with couple trips up to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
In January our staff and a volunteer delivered pallets of food from our natural food sponsors to supply the ongoing 'Bring Nutrition Home' Backpack Program at Isna Wica Owayawa (Loneman Elementary School). This program provides every student with a bag full of nutritious food and snacks every Friday. With help of some of the elementary students, we were able unload the truck and stock the supply room for the entire spring semester.
This past weekend our staff returned to Pine Ridge to host a one day free store in the district of Manderson. The free store included many donations from individuals and sponsors including new and used household goods, bedding and bathroom items, clothing, jackets, shoes, toys, books, and food. Free store patrons are provided with one large bag to fill with whatever items they wish. With an abundance of intensely low income living conditions throughout the reservation, operating a free store enables individuals to obtain much needed supplies and warm clothing, especially helpful during an extreme winter season.
We thank everyone who has continued to donate to our cause over the years so we can maintain these programs. If you are in the Colorado area and wish to contribute used goods and clothing for upcoming free stores, please contact us at support@consciousalliance.org  or call our office at 720-406-7871 to coordinate dropping off or a pick up.
